The Ashfield & Mansfield Children and Young People's Group

Children and Young People's Group


The Ashfield & Mansfield Children and Young People's Group was established as part of the coordinating arrangements for children and young people's issues in the Ashfield and Mansfield areas.

The group acts as a focus to co-ordinate the action which is required across all agencies locally in relation to the extensive children and young people's agenda. This includes Every Child Matters, the Children's Act, and the National Service Framework for Children.

The group is chaired by Chris Jones, the Operations Manager for Connexions, Nottinghamshire and also involves the following organisations:

  • Senior Officer, Nottinghamshire County Council Social Services
  • Senior Officer, Nottinghamshire County Council Youth Services
  • Senior Officer, Local Education Authority
  • Senior Officer, Nottinghamshire County Teaching Primary Care Trust
  • Partnership Officer, Nottinghamshire Police
  • Manager, Mansfield Area Strategic Partnership
  • Manager, Ashfield Partnership LSP
  • Senior Officer, Connexions
  • Senior Officer, Ashfield District Council

The Group will work towards the following objectives:
  • To develop the participation of children and young people and their families in the Ashfield & Mansfield districts
  • To work with Joint Access Teams (JATs) across Mansfield and Ashfield to develop district wide Steering Groups to oversee the development of early intervention and prevention services in the district
  • To establish a District Review Group for Ashfield to review current early intervention and prevention service delivery arrangements and implement any changes required
  • To ensure that Safeguarding remains a high priority for all partners in the Ashfield & Mansfield districts
  • To Develop an effective communication strategy that promotes the positive image of children and young people and their families in the work of the Children & Young Peoples LSPs group
  • To hold an annual Partnership Event for those working with children & young people in Ashfield and Mansfield
